Julia Schmidt has her certification in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University. She is a Certified Food for Life Instructor with the Physicians for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) in Washington DC. She has eaten a whole food plant-based diet for 11 years and coaches people on how to lose weight and live a healthy and abundant life.
She found her passion for nutrition after she suffered a complete burnout. Her immune system broke down and so she got very ill and was in bed for the best part of a year. At 36, married with a full-time job and a four-year-old child this was very challenging. The whole food plant-based diet was key to her recovery. She ate herself back to full health and vitality and finally lost all the weight she had been carrying since she was ten years old. It was an easy and natural weight loss and she sustained it for 10 years. In 2016 she immigrated to the USA. The stress that this move caused her and her family was enormous. Comfort food like tofu hot dogs, potato chips and dairy free chocolate was daily fare. So much so, that she put on 13 pounds. She convinced herself that she would stop when the stress was over.
Life got harder instead of easier. Her child got ill and diet formed the cure. She had to stop and change back to clean and healthy eating. She lost 13 pounds over 7 weeks and is even lighter and happier than before. Her recent experience of getting back on the wagon out of a very deep and dark hole has given her deep insight. This insight helps her guide people through difficulties to achieve their goal weight. The biggest benefit is that she knows how to help people gain a new perspective on life.
Julia loves taking long brisk walks in nature and spending time with her family. She is an avid reader and enjoys exploring many different kinds of topics. She particularly enjoys people and has spent all her adult life in different teaching and coaching positions. She was overweight for most of her life and so is passionate about helping people reach their goal weight and optimal health .
